The Wool
Shed - circa 1819
"Believed to be Australia's oldest wool shed. This two storeyed building
was the main focs of the work at Woolmers as the property grew to
Approximately 24,000 acres and ran 20,000 sheep.
The sheep were firstly washed in the river and then brought to the shed
to be blade shorn. The wool was hoisted up to the top floor where the man-
powered press would be used to bail the wool.
The bales would be lowered out of the top font door, on to a dray and
taken to Launceston ready for shipping back to England."
